What Are the Benefits of a Birth Chart Reading?
Albrecht Dürer Celestial Map of the Northern Sky c. 1515
Astrology is one of the oldest wisdom traditions in the world. The study of the rising and setting of the Sun and Moon was especially important for one’s general lifestyle as well as farming.
It was a scholarly subject for hundreds of years until the Renaissance, at which point it became more esoteric. Just like how the Sun and Moon rise every day and change the amount of light in the sky, your moods—like the light inside of you—are similarly affected by the celestial bodies. The axiom “as above, so below” holds true, and many science-minded clients have exclaimed “wow, it’s true!” regarding so many aspects of their birth charts.
Astrology uses a language all its own, like hieroglyphic symbols, and its meanings unfold over time as you study your birth chart and track its transits and progressions. Many astrological symbols have multiple—at times even contradictory—meanings that allow for you to develop deeper awareness and attunement with the mysteries of life. In short, learning your birth chart and how it relates over time to the general “astrological weather” of transits that affect the collective makes you a “wise man” or a “wise woman.” It is a truly deep knowledge that no one can take away from you once you embody it.
Visit of the three Magi. Klosterneuburger Evangelienwerk c. 1340
In fact, the three wise men who visited Jesus were probably astrologers or at least magi trained in astrology and other occult practices. (Prior to the 17th century, all astronomers were also astrologers, as there was no divide between these sciences.) Just like the three wise men followed the North Star to find Christ, the art of astrology allows us to follow our own North Star and embrace our highest expression in this life, in which we may find truth, wisdom, and understanding. For some, this includes embodying Christ consciousness.
Your birth chart helps you understand your unique attributes and your place in the world. Once you understand your path, it helps you figure out how to thrive. It helps you decode the meanings around so many facets of your life, including relationships, career, family, artistic endeavors, and social life.
